About Dr. Kohnle

Dr. Kendall Kohnle is a licensed psychologist currently serving as the Director of Anxiety Treatment Center of Los Angeles as well as the Assistant Director at Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Los Angeles. Dr. Kohnle specializes in evidence-based therapy for anxiety disorders (i.e., obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, specific phobia, panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety). Dr. Kohnle also works with excoriation (i.e. skin picking), trichotillomania (i.e., hair pulling), and behavioral tics. Dr. Kohnle provides treatment to both adults and adolescents (ages 13+).

Dr. Kohnle also has specialized training in treating depression, insomnia, anger management, ADHD, chronic pain, and relationship communication problems. She has been extensively trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). She also has training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). Dr. Kohnle’s approach is to create a strong foundational relationship with clients and integrate cultural, diversity, interpersonal, and strengths-based factors to tailor treatment to each unique individual.

Dr. Kohnle received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas where she majored in Psychology and minored in Leadership Studies. She went on to obtain her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has completed doctoral training practicums at the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment (KCCAT), Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center, and the University of Kansas Psychological Clinic. Although her work has primarily been with adults, Dr. Kohnle has experience treating children, adolescents, and couples. She completed an APA-accredited internship at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. During this internship, she completed a rigorous training program in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD and was granted provider roster status within the VA system. Finally, Dr. Kohnle went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in advanced cognitive-behavioral therapy at CBT Los Angeles. Her research focuses on the role of mindset and intentionality in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Dr. Kohnle is a member of the International OCD Foundation and the American Psychological Association.
